Te Awamutu War Memorial Park is Te Awamutu’s largest and best-loved park, built around the Mangaohoi Stream and anchored by the sunken-cross war memorial. The Waipā District Council reserve includes a duck pond, fountain, rose garden, four new footbridges (installed 2023) and a 2024-opened destination playground with a timber play structure featuring artwork by Dannika Tukua. Slides, swings, picnic tables, shade, public toilets and parking sit close to the Mangaohoi Stream walks, all within a short stroll of the town centre.

A hidden gem in Te Awamutu. Beautiful photo spots with gorgeous trees and lots of stonework. Full of history too- we got chatting with some locals and found out some fascinating facts about how this park reflects its purpose as a war memorial. Lovely place to hang out for a while with playground, shade, and grassed areas. Well done, Waipa!
