Wānaka Station Park is a heritage reserve on the lakefront at the foot of Mount Aspiring Road, a remnant of the 1859 sheep station that once stretched along the south side of Lake Wānaka. Visitors stroll from the beach through a rose arbour with 100-year-old heirloom roses to old station ruins, a small playground, an enormous rhododendron hedge and an orchard with free fruit in season, set under giant sequoias and Himalayan cedars.

Perfect place for a picnic and A great detour from the more popular beach walking path. Has some impressive tree species that have aged with grace. A great place to wonder around and marvel at the impressive greenery! There is a restroom on the south side of the park as you walk to connect with the beach path.

What are gem. No tourists, just a few local dog walkers. No campervans. What a marvellous picturesque walk along the banks of this lake mixed with landscaped grassed walkways. Do not tell anyone about this.
