Newtown Park is Wellington City Council’s headline athletics stadium and multi-purpose ground on Roy Street, built in 1881 and originally part of Wellington Zoo. The main arena pairs a football pitch with a 400m all-weather Spurtan BV athletics track (re-laid January 2018) certified World Athletics Class 2, alongside a grandstand and function room. The venue is the region’s main track-and-field home (host of 2023 and 2024 NZ Champs) and is used for winter football; a small playground is on site for visiting families.
