Ashbury Park is a Timaru District Council coastal reserve on the northern side of the city in Waimataitai, named after early settler Belfield Woollcombe’s ‘Ashbury’ house overlooking the former Waimataitai Lagoon (lost in 1933 when Port of Timaru sediment drift changed). The fenced playground packs in multiple swings, a maypole swing, large jungle gym, climbing wall, monkey bars, flying fox, vertical platform and a summer splash pad. Sports fields, picnic areas and toilets sit alongside.
