Western Springs Park Playground sits near the Motions Road entrance of Western Springs Lakeside Te Wai Ōrea Park, on the zoo side of the lake. The 2021 ecology-themed playground packs in high slides, a giant basket swing, a hexagon of six swings, climbing mounds with footholds, climbing nets, acorn and vine-themed structures, sound-play equipment and a play area for small children under shade sails. Textured paths double as a learn-to-ride circuit and the whole space is designed for wheelchair and pram access; picnic tables, BBQ, toilets, changing rooms and parking sit alongside.

A beautiful park for a family day out! The playground is fantastic with lots to keep kids entertained, and there’s plenty of open space for picnics. Lovely walking paths around the lake with ducks and swans to spot. Free entry and easy to combine with a visit to the zoo nearby.
