Trafalgar Park is Nelson's premier open-air sports stadium beside the Maitai River, opened in 1888 and upgraded to a capacity of 18,000 for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The ground is home to Tasman Mako rugby (Bunnings NPC), Nelson Bays Rugby Football Union and Nelson Cricket Association matches and features the Trafalgar Park Pavilion (changing rooms, clubrooms and VIP area). Across the Maitai sits the Trafalgar Centre indoor arena.
