Tiakina / Sister Rene Shadbolt Park is an Auckland Council park at the junction of New Lynn, Blockhouse Bay and Green Bay (130 Portage Road), renamed in 1942 to honour Sister Rene Shadbolt, a New Zealand nurse who served in the Spanish Civil War. The dual Māori name Tiakina (to care for, protect and conserve) was gifted in 2025 by Te Kawerau ā Maki to also remember Māori nurses who went to war. The playground features three swings including an accessible basket swing alongside a slide, a basketball half-court and a large skate park, with picnic spots, bush walking links and connections to the Te Whau Pathway.

This is gonna be the coolest place to walk your dog and gets some exercise I have been coming here since I was a kid and when my children were little we'd spend a lot of time here it was given to West Auckland by Smith & caughey who has since folded now unfortunately one of the last amazing department stores that sold quality clothes perfume and other things coolest place to be with your furbaby
