Taramea Bay is a Southland District Council waterfront reserve at Riverton-Aparima, on the safe-swimming bay between Howells Point and the Jacobs River Estuary. The newly built Riverton-Aparima playground opened alongside an amenities block as part of the staged Taramea Bay redevelopment, with toilets, beach access, dolphins often visible in the bay, and picnic spots nearby. Well-regarded by Southland families for combining a destination summer beach with a fresh play space.
