Peat Park is one of Whanganui's oldest neighbourhood reserves, on the corner of Peat and Halswell Streets next to Cullinane College, with a heritage Art Deco entrance. The playground has separate areas for toddlers (swings and bug-shaped seesaw) and older children (massive climbing frame, obstacle course and slide), set among mature oak trees with picnic areas, fencing, shade and toilets; a small deer sanctuary at the foot of the hill is a popular feature.

A great medium size park/playground with good fun for probably 4+ year olds, some play stuff that doubles as some exercise equipment if you’re into that sort of thing and a wide open space for whatever sportsball game you want to play. Not to mention, the deer over behind the fence.

Typical New Zealand sports field that just happens to have a park with deer in it next to it. Deer will come to the fence for a bunch of fresh grass but then disappear. They're not really friendly.
