Laird Park is a Whanganui District Council reserve on Peat Street in central Whanganui, home to the Laird Park Bowling Club (three outdoor greens) and the local netball courts that were resurfaced in recent years - the first revamp since 2008. A small neighbourhood playground sits beside the sports area with picnic seating and on-site parking; it's a working community sports stop rather than a destination playground.

Attended Māori Kura Kapahaka competitions at a splendid venue to absorb and appreciate the hard work Māori teachers, parents, support people and families contribute to keep our kaupapa living and thriving. Only tamariki mokopuna can draw the multitude of attendees out of their homes to gather under the one roof. A very proud kuikui indeed
