Mander Park is a Whangārei District Council park at the corner of State Highway 1 and Central Avenue, popular as a roadside stopover for families heading north. The fenced community-co-designed playground combines a junior modular unit with small slide, bridge and tunnel with a vibrant new swing set (home to Whangārei's first Lilly-pad swing), climbing frames and seesaws. A large open grass area adjacent supports ball games and picnics, with shaded picnic spots under historic mature trees, public toilets and parking off Central Avenue.
