Cafler Park is a Whangārei District Council inner-city reserve on Water Street, behind the Central Library and west of the Hātea River, named after local gardener Edward Eugene Cafler. The park features a well-tended rose and flower garden (best late October-April), mature specimen trees and the Waiarohia River along the western edge, with the adjoining Botanica conservatory, scented gardens and picnic areas. A small children's playground sits within the park, alongside on-site parking and public toilets at the bridge entrance - a quiet, garden-led stop rather than a destination playground.

Great park to enjoy a picnic lunch, and watch the birds. Rose gardens are beautiful in season, (late Oct - peak early Nov to late April) with a pretty river, garden and trees. Lots of parking on road or in public car parks. #loveithere #whangareipark #LetsGuide #selfiespot #wheelchairaccessible
