Pūtahi Park is the $6.6 million Whangārei District Council destination park on the Town Basin waterfront, opened in March 2022 and recipient of the 2024 NZILA Award of Excellence. The hero feature is an interactive water play installation with 19 LED-lit water jets that runs programmed sequences day and night, paired with mini trampolines, a slack-line tight-rope and a great lawn used for events. Shade sails, drinking fountains, picnic seating and public toilets make it a comfortable day-or-night family stop, and the park links the waterfront, the Hātea Loop Walkway and the central city. Best treated as a destination Northland family outing.

Awesome addition to the Town Basin. So many place to stay and linger for young and old. The water feature seems a real hit with the kids. Lots of places to picnic while the kids play before heading to the Hundertwasser Museum, Town Basin shops or restaurants, Children's Park, Clapham Clocks, or view all the sculptures around the Hatea Loop walk just to name some of the attractions. Good paths for prams and wheelchairs. Public toilets.

A great place to enjoy a festival or just hangout during the day.
