Garden of Tane is a Christchurch City Council Banks Peninsula scenic reserve at the corner of Rue Jolie and Aylmers Valley Road in Akaroa, set aside as Akaroa Domain in 1874 and named after Tane the Maori god of forests and birds. Native bush tracks, specimen trees, and harbour vistas wind through the reserve to three historic cemeteries (Anglican, Dissenters, Catholic) at the upper end, with a traditional childrens playground near the main entrance (including an iron rocking horse from the 1960s restoration era). The play space pairs naturally with a bush walk and Akaroa village stop rather than standing alone as a destination playground.
