Elsdon Park is a Porirua City Council sports reserve on Awarua Street in Takapūwāhia, named after historian Elsdon Best. The site is used primarily for hockey (with a turf, training strip and pavilion) and other field sports, alongside the new Te Kukuwai o Toa wetland gifted its name by Ngāti Toa Rangatira to help filter Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour stormwater. A neighbourhood playground with sandpit sits beside the sports area in remnant kānuka bush, with parking and toilets on site - a working community reserve rather than a destination playground.

New flying foxes have more tension so it's safer for more weight the playground has been improved also and there's always the astroturf there too if need be

Cricket ground and Hockey Turf. I've only used the hockey turf and it's a sand based turf with a few lumps in it. Not the smoothest field but closer than NHS. Toilets could do with a refresh as a re a bit old school. Floods in very heavy rain, but that's the fun bit!
