This is the playground and aviary inside Timaru District Councils 19 hectare Botanic Gardens in south Timaru, a heritage garden dating back to 1864. The aviary draws kids in with colourful bird species, while the playground packs in six regular swings, two toddler swings, a slide, a large cube climbing frame, and a spinning platform around picnic tables, benches, and toilets. Entry is free and the gardens are open daily from morning to dusk, with formal floral displays, lawn picnic spots, and shaded paths through mature trees. A relaxed gardens-with-play stop rather than a destination playground.
