Barry Hadfield Nīkau Reserve is a Kāpiti Coast District Council bush reserve in Otaihanga, gifted by Barry Hadfield (1925–2012), great-grandson of pioneer missionary Octavius Hadfield. A 30-minute loop walking track and a steep 20-minute climb to a lookout thread through native nīkau palm clusters along gravel paths and steps, rewarding visitors with views over the Kāpiti Coast. Parking sits at the trailhead.

Beautiful reserve! Love the boardwalks. Note the 1h return time is just for the loop up and back down the hill - walking along the first half of the ridgeline and back down the road adds another 30ish mins.

Fantastic reserve. So many ancient Nikau and Kohekohe. Well maintained tracks and a great view at the top. Well recommended. Clearest view of Kapiti Island is best in the mornings.
