Te Kapua Park is a destination Tūrangi playground built on a former Ngāti Tūrangitukua stream site, opened in 2023 through a partnership between Ngāti Tūrangitukua and Taupō District Council. The papa tākaro is themed around water play to reference the original stream and stories of the Tongariro River and maunga, with separate junior and senior areas, a hinaki net inspired by traditional fishing traps, waka rockers, a climbing post, tube slide, multiple swing types including an inclusive carousel swing, plus musical instruments and natural play. The playground won the Te Karanga o te Tui Award in 2024 for design and community engagement. Ample parking, just off the Tūrangi town centre.

Samen met Ruurd heerlijk gespeeld in het park. Voornamelijk de schildpad bij de ingang was erg mooi gemaakt. Wel een paar verbeterpunten namelijk het waterpompje werkte niet hierdoor konden we niet spelen met de sluizen en water . Dit is voor een Nederlander toch essentieel. Tot slot de schommels. Wie heeft bedacht om deze stoeltjes te gebruiken. Je heupen worden nog net niet verbrijzeld. Al met al een leuk parkje met verbeter mogelijkheden.
