Papaioea Park is a council reserve on Featherston Street in central Palmerston North, with a children's playground alongside a sportsground that hosts cricket in summer and football in winter. There is a pavilion, on-site parking and toilets, and the play area is fenced with mature trees for shade.

Papaioea Park gives you a nice playground with a difficult entrance. Bordering two main streets, you pretty much have to make a decision if parking on the wrong one, the main one: Do you jump the wall or walk all around? Mind you, parking is not that abundant, so it probably is a frequent decision to make. Once inside, however, the playground is a decent one, mixed with an open gym, so it is somewhat blurry where one starts and the other finishes. And there is plenty of open, flat, unforgiven space, too. You'll find toilets nearby, a rubbish bin, perhaps, but little seating, so you'll have to do with seating by the playground's boundary walls, or with standing under the shade of a few trees on the side. Nice, interesting playground, yet rather underdeveloped.

Great park with play gear for the kids and gym equipment for the adults. The edible garden added by Milson Rotary will reward visitors for many years to come
