Papaioea Park is a council reserve on Featherston Street in central Palmerston North, with a children's playground alongside a sportsground that hosts cricket in summer and football in winter. There is a pavilion, on-site parking and toilets, and the play area sits among mature trees for shade.

Papaioea Park gives you a nice park with a difficult entrance. Bordering two main streets, Ruahine Street and Featherstone Street, you pretty much have to make a decision if parking on the wrong one, i. e. on Ruahine Street: Do you jump the wall or walk all around? Mind you, parking is not that abundant, so it probably is a frequent decision to make. The park is a vast expanse of open, flat, unforgiven space, that can be used as sportgrounds, with a little playground and gym on the side. You'll find toilets nearby, some rubbish bins, but little seating, and only a few trees on its borders for shade. A rather underdeveloped park at present.
