The Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park sits beside the iconic 7.5-metre Big Carrot, installed in 1984 after a TV commercial shoot and donated to the town. It packs swings, slides, climbing ropes, an endurance course, a brand-new flying fox, pump bike tracks, outdoor gym equipment, hopscotch and a 1km loop walk into a single site, plus the photo-friendly Carrot Rocket and Carrot Mazda, vegetable-character sculptures and a Night Sky panel along the Mangateitei Stream.

Wow! I’ve never seen such an incredible road side park. And it’s FREE!! I thought I’d see a giant carrot statue and that’s it. So wrong! Loads of kid (and adult) friendly activities, short and longer paths, benches along the river, and clean restrooms. Everything is in great condition. This is a MUST STOP interaction attraction. Well done, Ohakune!

One of the best public parks alive ever come across in all of my travels. Very well kept and maintained. Beautiful trails throughout the park. Loads of activities for all different age groups. You could easily spend an entire day here if you were looking for a low key activity to keep the family entertained. I wish other countries would invest in public spaces like this.
