The New Brighton Beachside Playground sits on Marine Parade between He Puna Taimoana and the Pacific dunes, designed with local schools and community input as a wet-and-dry destination playground. It features a wheelchair-accessible splash pad with a 600kg ‘whale’ centrepiece (a clone of the iconic original), water cannons, a large climbable waka, rope climbing frame, swings, slides, accessible carousel, musical play and a motion spinner. The seafront setting, He Puna Taimoana hot pools and the Pegasus Bay walk lie a few steps away.

Wonderful playground for kids, and perhaps adults as well. We visited during winter time, but still enjoyable although it's wet because of the overnight rain. It has a paddling pool, which should be open during summer months. The playground is within walking distance from a beautiful beach, library, and a Countdown supermarket. So everything needed for children must be there. Will visit again.

Nice playground, best suited for summer months as a bunch of the activities are water based, which limits some of the playability of this location. Still, lots of fun to be had, and only a few steps away from the beach.
