Avon Park is a nature-led play space in the redeveloped Ōtākaro Avon River red-zone corridor at Avonside, Christchurch, with the upper terrace opening in December 2024. The accessible playground centres on a 5.8 metre Taranaki climbing tower, custom Morere swing referencing the local river-swinging heritage, an inclusive wheelchair-friendly Cyclone spinner, flying saucer and toddler swings, plus Wobbly Wood seesaws and stilts. A community garden sits alongside the play area and further phases will add a basketball court, pump track and toilets. It is pitched at all ages and abilities rather than a single demographic.
