The May and Peter Harris Playground on Napier's Marine Parade foreshore is a destination Napier City Council play space built in 2002 as part of the Marine Parade upgrade. It is split into a 2 to 7 year-old zone (sand play, a pirate-ship climber, slides and swings) and a 7 to 12 year-old zone (rock-climbing boulders, monkey bars, skateboard sliders, obstacle courses and a circle of facing swings designed for foot-tag play). A junior bike track with road signs and working traffic lights runs alongside the playground for road-safety practice, with shade sails over many of the play modules.

Awesome playground for children of different ages. The playgrounds are fully fenced and split for different ages. One playground is for 2-7 year olds and the other one is for 7-12 year olds. Most of the playgrounds are covered and there are covered picnic tables to sit at and watch your kids. Nice big Carpark that has a 2 hour limit. Coffee cart and ice cream kiosk onsite

We've been coming here since it was first installed about 10 years ago. The kids still love coming here. Since it's on the beach, you may want to bring a jacket or something to protect you from the wind. It can be hot and sunny and still have a cold wind. Other times, the wind isn't cold, but it is very strong.
