This Centennial Drive Childrens Playground sits inside the Matamata-Piako District Council botanical park that runs through the Matamata town centre, starting on Tainui Street and finishing on Broadway. The drive features native and magnolia gardens, an entrance water feature, picnic tables, drinking fountains, and benches under mature trees alongside the play space. The neighbouring Tom Grant Drive extension also has a newer playground, and the larger Matamata Domain off Meura Street covers bigger modular play. A relaxed central garden-and-play stop rather than a destination playground.
