The Botanic Gardens Playground sits inside Christchurch's 21-hectare heritage Botanic Gardens, near the Armagh Street footbridge off the main carpark. The playground features multi-play structures and climbing towers, swings (including a liberty swing for children with disabilities, with the key available from the Visitor Centre), and slides. Adjoining it is a shallow seasonal paddling pool (closed April to November, no lifeguard on duty), all set among the heritage trees and gardens with picnic lawns, shade and public toilets nearby. Entry to the gardens, playground and pool is free.

Very interesting place, lots to view, maybe not so much for small children as viewing flora and fauna would most likely be boring. There is a decent park/playground there to tire them out though. My wife and I purchased a single scoop ice cream for $5, initially I kicked up a stink about $5 for a single scoop, however they were very decently sized and exceeded my initial expectation. There were a group of gentleman sailing small boats on a lake near the carpark, they were interesting to watch. I would recommend this as a place for everyone ♥️

The Botanical Garden is always such a beautiful place to visit. Everywhere you look, there are so many different plants, flowers, and trees to admire, and the wildlife just makes it even more special. It always feels refreshing and calming to walk around, almost like stepping into a little paradise.
