Wiri Playground sits in Wiri Stream Reserve off Trevor Hosken Drive in south Auckland, opened in August 2021 after a three year build. The play space follows māra hūpara traditional Māori nature-play designs by play specialist Harko Brown, using logs and rocks alongside native planting by Te Whāngai Trust to build fitness, agility and confidence. A short 1.8 kilometre loop trail along the Puhinui Stream starts at the same carpark, making it an easy combine-a-bush-walk-with-play stop. Best suited to families wanting nature-led play rather than traditional manufactured equipment.
