Western Reserve is a large Auckland Council reserve at 214 Hibiscus Coast Highway in Ōrewa, fronting onto the Ōrewa Estuary with a small wharf. The reserve is home to the well-known Ōrewa Skate Park (regarded as one of NZ’s best designs, with ramps, rails, half-pipes and kickers), a basketball court, sports field and children’s playground. Estuary Arts Centre, Ōrewa Bowling Club, Hibiscus Petanque, the Hibiscus Coast Community House and Youth Centre, plus the Hibiscus Coast Dog Training Club all sit within the grounds. Toilets, picnic tables, seating and parking (with mobility spaces) are on site.

A beautiful spot at the northern end of Orewa Beach adjacent to the Orewa bridge, the camping grounds, the Estuary Arts Centre and Te Ara Tahuna. I love it here any time of the day but especially at sunrise. There is a seat to rest on and a path around the motor camp to the beach. There are clean public toilets across the road. Furthermore, there is another walking and cycling track heading west on the other side of the road.
