Waterview Reserve is a free destination water-play park in central Auckland that opened in 2015, designed with the local Waterview community after the motorway works. The hero pieces are a summer splash pad and a 5 metre tube slide, joined by sand play with a mini digger, climbing nets, a spiral stair tower, tunnels through mounds and a learn-to-cycle pump track. A skate park, basketball court and beach volleyball net sit next to the playground, with public toilets, accessible paths and a shaded gazebo on site. Suits preschool through pre-teen and is the kind of stop that pulls families from across the city.
