The Wairoa Destination Playground sits next to the Community Centre on Marine Parade in Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, opened in 2017 and expanded in 2021 with a sheltered BBQ area by Urban Effects. The playground's flying fox, swings, climbing equipment and adjoining skate bowl draw families from across the East Coast, and the Wairoa River pathway runs alongside with the town shops a short walk away. Shaded picnic seating, toilets and parking make it a popular stop for travellers between Hawke's Bay, Mahia and Lake Waikaremoana.
