Waikanae Beach Playground is a Gisborne District Council waterfront play space on Grey Street in Awapuni, a stones throw from Waikanae Beach and five minutes from the city centre. The playground is split into three age zones (toddler, primary, secondary) and includes a bike-riding road-rules track so kids can practise safely, along with BBQs, picnic spots, parking, toilets, and shade. Well-regarded by Gisborne families as a destination beachside playground that pairs naturally with a swim. A genuine day-out stop rather than a quick local play.

We had a powered site, water next to us and a short walk to everything .

Great place to bring your children or grandkids to enjoy the playground and the beach is there as well. Captain Morgans is just down from there if you would like a meal, snack, drink, ice cream or ice block a hot day.
