Waenganui / Allenby Park is an Auckland Council destination park on Allenby Road in Papatoetoe, opposite Papatoetoe High School. The renewed playground centres on a 10m tower slide with climbing ladders, multiple slides, swings, and dedicated sand and water play zones, paired with a skate bowl and volleyball court on site. BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, and parking ring the park. The name Waenganui comes from a Ngati Tamaoho whakatauki marking the boundaries of Papatoetoe, given via Aucklands Te Kete Rukuruku cultural identity programme in 2021. Well-regarded by South Auckland families as a destination park rather than a quick local stop.
