Takaro Park is a 1920s neighbourhood reserve on Botanical Road in Palmerston North (the name means 'play' in te reo Māori). It has a children's playground, picnic areas, basketball/tennis/bowls courts and the city's first free outdoor gym, with toilets and parking on site.

Surprisingly large, open, footy field next to some freshly upgraded basketball courts, outdoor gym equipment, and a small kids playground. Has a (very) little stream and bush stroll too. Could be better lit in places at night, lights over the courts would be particularly great. Good parking, good toilet.
