Hopukiore (Mt Drury) Reserve sits in the heart of Mount Maunganui on Maunganui Road, a Tauranga City Council heritage volcanic-dome reserve at the base of Mauao with culturally significant early Māori burial caves (renamed Mt Drury in 1853 after Byron Drury). The grounds combine a loop walking track with picnic areas and a large family playground a short walk from the beach and shops. A $400k landscape upgrade and a $1.5m playground rebuild are progressing under Tauranga City Council’s Hopukiore upgrade project.
