Ngamotu Beach Playground sits on the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway next to Port Taranaki, with slides, swings, climbing walls and rope nets for a range of ages. The site has a sandpit, picnic tables at either end, shade, toilets and showers, and the sheltered beach behind the breakwater is popular with families.

Awesome safe beach for kids. Sometimes the water is a bit churned up, mostly just silty/sand makes it look a bit murky. Lots if sand to relax and play on. Small playground an public toilets, + outside shower available. My 8 yr old daughter, nieces, sister an i looooove this beach. Swimming great, boogie boarding sometimes a little flat.

This is one of the friendliest beaches in Taranaki. The sea is very calm for swimming in summer. We sometimes take my husband's kayak and give the inexperienced children and adults an opportunity to row in the sea. The trees provide a nice shade when it's very hot. There are picnic tables and benches scattered around on a beautifully manicured grassy area. It makes the area suitable for picnics and for playing cricket or soccer. People also Bbq here. There's a very adequate playground for the younger children. The toilets are clean and maintained. Ngamotu beach is also quite near the Moturoa shops where take away foods are available.
