The New Zealand Parliament Public Playground is a small free play space on the front lawn of Parliament on Molesworth Street in Pipitea, opened in 2019 with Speaker Trevor Mallard and PM Jacinda Ardern cutting the ribbon as part of International Childrens Day. Designed to fit Wellingtons most densely populated urban area, the natural-materials build includes a beech-timber main slide manufactured in Palmerston North, timber steppers, timber balance beams, swings, and safety pads made from recycled tyres, all tucked among mature trees of the English-garden lawn. Best combined with a Parliament guided tour or a stop on the Wellington central walking circuit. A small heritage-setting play stop rather than a destination playground.

The slide is the best looking and best design in New Zealand. It works well and loved by the children. The balance beam and blocks are a nice supplement to the slide. Unfortunately, the $572,000 price tag makes it the most ridiculously expensive playground, especially with what it get with that price. Great slide, not worth the price, and a great way to waste taxpayers money.

In terms of the slide it works well and is very slippery, good corner action. Value for money at over $500k dragged the rating down
