Maidstone Park is Upper Hutt City Council's flagship sports and recreation park, home to the Maidstone Max destination playground reopened in 2021 after a $3.8 million accessibility-focused rebuild. Centrepiece is a timber castle fort with ramp access to upper levels, surrounded by in-ground trampolines, a variety of swings (including wheelchair-accessible options), a sand-play 'quarry', sensory panels and a dedicated musical-play section. Adjacent are a $3.8m bowl-and-street skate park, a pump bike/scooter track, a half basketball court, sports fields, bush trails and a mountain bike track.

Maidstone Park, along with the Sports Turf and Sports Hub, is an excellent community asset in Upper Hutt. The park is spacious, well maintained, and ideal for everything from casual walks and family outings to organised sport. The sports turf is high quality and clearly well cared for, making it great for training and competitions year-round. The Sports Hub is modern, clean, and practical, providing a welcoming base for teams, spectators, and community events. With good facilities, easy access, and plenty of open space, Both Maidstone & Trentham Memorial Park continue to be two of the the region’s standout recreational areas. Highly recommended for both sport and leisure!
