Kuirau Park Playground sits inside New Zealand's only free geothermal public park, in the north of Rotorua across from Rotorua Hospital. The fenced playground combines slides, swings, climbing structures and a spinner over soft matting, set among the park's bubbling mud pools, steam vents and a free thermal foot bath. Picnic tables, BBQs, toilets and free Kuirau Street parking make it a comfortable day stop, and the Saturday Market has run on the park since 1988. Best treated as a family destination that combines a play visit with a geothermal walk and the market.

Large playground and park with lots of things for kids of all ages. From climbing to spinning to swinging to sliding. Lots to do! A decommissioned hot spring pool just next to the playground also offers shelter if it rains. And kids find fun in there too. Toilets are nearby. A short walk away you can enjoy geothermal pool springs where members of the public enjoys soaking their feet. Many fenced up spots where geothermal hot water is bubbling and steaming away. Really lovely place and a free option for tourists visiting the region. Short walk from most places in Rotorua too.
