Kaiaua Playground

Kaiaua Playground is the Hauraki District Council Kaiaua Pirate Ship Playground on East Coast Road, just north of Puriri Avenue on the Shorebird Coast. The themed pirate-ship adventure structure draws young swashbucklers in for climbing, deck running, and sliding, with seating for grown-ups and a new container-style toilet block being added. Pair with the Hauraki Rail Trail terminus and the giant Torea Mangu oystercatcher sculpture in the freedom camping area to the north for an easy half-day stop on the Auckland to Coromandel run. A small destination playground rather than a quick local play.
