East End Reserve sits on Buller Street between central New Plymouth and the Coastal Walkway, an 8.5-acre clifftop park overlooking East End Beach. The reserve has a modern playground, the East End Skate Park with halfpipe, picnic areas and a gas BBQ, plus paths down to the surf beach (lifeguard-patrolled in summer, with rip-current warnings). Historic Holy Trinity Church and Te Henui Cemetery sit alongside, and the Te Henui Walkway links to Fitzroy Beach; well-rated by locals as a coastal-walk and swim stop with kids.

this spot is lowkey a cheat code for Np vibes. you rock up and it’s just water and my brain immediately goes ok yeah I can breathe again lol. The walkway here is such an easy cruise somehow you’ve done like 8k steps. The views are legit, especially when the light hits and everything looks way too pretty for a random weekday. Bring a layer, bring jandals, bring a jacket, bring emotional stability believe it or not you’ll need at least two of those 😭 But that’s part of the charm. People on the local subs always hype East End / Fitzroy as the go-to for a chill swim day and I kinda get it now. Would come back fr. This is the type of place you take someone.
