East End Playground sits inside the New Plymouth District Council East End Reserve on Autere Street in Strandon, beside East End Beach on the 12.7km New Plymouth Coastal Walkway. The play space pairs swings, slides, climbing pieces, and a sandpit with summer-lifeguard beach access, a river mouth for shoreline exploration, picnic spots, a summer cafe, parking, and toilets. Pair with a stroll east toward Fitzroy or west to the iconic Wind Wand for a half-day. A relaxed coastal stop rather than a destination playground.

The area at the highest high tide mark was recently covered in drift wood. Which resulted in a chain of huts built by clever young people. For those who prefer to dig holes and make castles and put up dykes against the income waves there was plenty of sand further down. This is a safe place to have some happy hours with the family.

The best place to start the walkway is parking up at Buller street park, play area for the children, bring bread feed the ducks, get coffee at the container Cafe, such an excellent place to spend some time with family and friends, the best!
