A spectacular walk along the Manawatu River linking to the New Bridge. You can see the wind farms in the background. Perfect evening sunset too. A wonderful place to stay on my roadtrip.

Dittmer Reserve is a Palmerston North City Council river reserve at Dittmer Drive in West End/Awapuni, set under a canopy of culturally significant karaka trees with ties to Rangitāne o Manawatū. The reserve provides walking and biking tracks along the Manawatū River, the He Ara Kotahi Bridge crossing, picnic tables, toilets, a pet-friendly drinking fountain and seasonal ebike rentals and coffee/ice-cream carts. Open 24 hours.
