So close to the centre of Nelson with an extensive network of shared walkways, a beautiful mix of native and exotic trees - a favourite of mine for walking the dog and enjoying nature.

Branford Park is a Nelson City Council riverside reserve along the Maitai River on Maitai Valley Road, the gateway to the popular Maitai Valley swimming holes (Black Hole, Dennes Hole and Sunday Hole — the latter two with jumping-off ropes). The grounds include public-harvest fruit trees, walking and cycling paths, BBQ, picnic tables, accessible toilets, parking and a small children’s playground that was added in 1973 alongside the Jickells Bridge. The reserve was created on land purchased from the Richardson family in 1918.

Great park, with swimming holes and picnic areas, toilet facilities, AND a very friendly 18-hole disc golf course!
