Tamahere Park is a Waikato District Council destination playground on Wiremu Tamihana Drive south of Hamilton, opened in May 2019 with shared community and council funding. The Boffa Miskell-designed play space is anchored by a large tuna (eel)-shaped mound inspired by the nearby Waikato River, with sliding, climbing, scaling and jumping play, plus swings, fencing, skate park, basketball half-court, picnic tables, BBQs, shade, toilets, walking and bike tracks. Designed with input from mana whenua and Tamahere Model Country School students.
