Hammond Park is a Hamilton City Council nature-themed playground on Malcolm Street in Riverlea, designed to sit lightly within native plantings near the Waikato Awa and support local species like swamp maire trees and long-tailed bats. The fully fenced play space features a basket swing, double slide, climbing poles, balance beams and stepping logs, a scrambling net, spinner and spring rocker, plus a sandpit, picnic table, park benches and on-site parking and toilets - a quietly distinctive natural-play stop for the river-bordering subdivision.

Beautiful place for a stroll. There's a 1km walkway which follows the river and then branches up to another 1km walkway/cycleway along a lovely stream and goes through some farmland. We parked at Hammond Park and managed a total of 4km (return) through beautiful surroundings. There's also a small "beach" near the parking area with real sand which is lovely to walk along or bring children to play in the sand and get their feet wet.
