Pioneer Park is Alexandra's premier recreation ground on Centennial Avenue in the heart of town, established by pioneer gold miners in the late 1860s. The park houses the Glad McArthur gardens, public tennis courts, the Central Stories Museum and a popular playground split into a fenced younger-kids area with an age-appropriate modular unit and a larger older-kids area with a colourful modern fort, swings, roundabout and climbing unit, all covered with shade sails for the Central Otago summer.
