Pareraho Playground is the Kelson neighbourhood play area on Kelso Grove in Lower Hutt, sitting behind Kelson Kindergarten and next to Kelson School. The play space was first opened in 1976 by then-mayor John Kennedy-Good as the Kelson Playground and was refreshed in 2021 through a Hutt City Council partnership with the Kelson School Fundraising Committee, when it was renamed in reference to the nearby Pareraho Forest. Equipment leans toward climbing structures with shaded picnic seating, making it a comfortable school-pickup or weekend neighbourhood stop. Best treated as a community park rather than a destination playground.

Big open space for the tamariki to run around. Rather secluded and quiet too when we came (Saturday lunchtime). Enter through path next to Kelson kindergarten.

Great park for children at least 4yrs+. The playground equipment is relatively new, but most of the climbing/ninja equipment is for children at least 8 or older. The park isn't easy to locate and you can't drive up to it. Best way to locate it, for accessibility, is via Taieri Crs. There are no facilities here.
