Avalon Playground is the destination adventure playground inside Motutawa Avalon Park in Lower Hutt, opened in 2016. It caters to all ages and abilities with a double flying fox, large sandpit, water-play stream, climbing structures (The Helix, Red Spaceball, Tree Castle), inground trampolines, the Amazon Tower slide, swings (including the Super Mega Swing and bird's-nest swing) and tunnels. Public toilets are in the adjacent Avalon Pavilion and the surrounding Avalon Park has BBQs, picnic tables, a model boating pond, tennis court and the new skatepark.
