Good place to go with kids as there are a lot of activities (though they don't always run so check hours), including mini golf and paddle boats.

Motutawa Avalon Park is a six-hectare riverside park in Lower Hutt managed by Hutt City Council, with a destination playground that opened in 2016. The playground caters to all ages and abilities, featuring a double flying fox, large sandpit, water-play stream, climbing structures, inground trampolines, swings and slides. The wider park also includes a model boating pond, public tennis court, picnic tables, electric barbecues and a new skatepark.

What a fantastic park for families! We had such a great time here — the kids absolutely loved the swings, train ride, and boating area. There’s so much to do to keep little ones entertained, and the skate park adds a fun touch for older kids. The walking track is perfect for a peaceful stroll or a bit of exercise while the kids play. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers something for everyone. Highly recommended for a fun and active day out with the family!
