I love the place, but I feel unsecured. I saw a car with teenagers smoking weed, a car with someone with a dog without leach... Beautiful place, bathrooms, nice playground. The entrance it is hiding from the GPS. It is between the houses, not easy to find. I recommend it but don't go alone.

Ōpūpū – Rotary Park sits on Te Hono Street in Maungatapu, Tauranga, named by the local hapū for the abundance of pūpū (catseye sea snails) on the foreshore. The Tauranga City Council destination playground (themed on the pūpū shell and built by Playground Creations) features stainless-steel embankment slides, scale ropes, a flounder net rooted in sand, log play, seesaws and an outdoor classroom shaped like the catseye shell. The dual name was adopted in 2023 after a two-year campaign by Maungatapu School pupils. Picnic tables, toilets and waterfront walks sit alongside.

One of the best freedom campsites in Tauranga.. unfortunately, theres only 2-3 spots so better get in early. There are 2 modern and clean public toilets with an outdoor cold shower. Picnic tables and public bbq's to use. Park by the water and enjoy the sunset in one of the nicest parks in Tauranga. Thank you BOP council.😁 …
